Gothic Metal

One of the more original styles of metal available, Gothic Metal is the cross between gothic music and Metal. Gothic will often have an opposition of female versus male vocals. The female vocals will often be clean and the male vocals more metal-ish. Gothic Metal is very athmospheric, very contrasted, and has a great sense of dark aesthetics.it stands out generally as the "artsy style" of metal. It is often poetry-driven and mellow, while, being metal.

Ambience Metal

Though Ambience Metal will often be brushed off by some metal fans, it is a style of music generally accepted within the Gothic Metal crowd. Actually closer to rock, Ambience has abstracted something from metal: the edge. Ambience Metal is all about the feeling. It's moody, smooth, casual listening. Like the other subgenres of Gohic Metal, it'll often entreat of the same themes, and have a somewhat similar feel and mood to it, but then again, every band and every song is different. Ambience Metal can be the host of much experimentation and artistic freedom.

Symphonic Metal

Probably the most important subgenre of Neo-Classical Metal is Symphonic Metal. Symphonic is more like an adjective than anything else, but it became a style of it's own. Symphonic is, as the name grants, based on the classical symphony. Like the classical symphony, most songs are based on the same four movements, Overture, Theme, Minuet and Finale. Not only the song structure, but also the instrumentation is taken from Classical Symphony. Symphonic Metal will often have keyboard orchestration that replicates the strings section of the classical symphonic orchestra. As said before, "symphonic" acts more as an adjective, but especially when bands of different subgenres have elements of Symphonic Metal
